Here's another one of my latest projects I finished a few weeks ago. It was something that I had started and ALMOST finished for one of my friends for Christmas. I basically dangled this in front of her, letting her look at the nearly done present she was about to get. Guess when she actually received it? Only a few weeks ago. I'm a BAD FRIEND.
This "accessory hanger" (I guess you can call it) was originally a piece of an old cupboard door. We found that, and all the vintage unique pieces of hardware at this amazing store called "ReStore". It's the Habitat For Humanity store where people who are remodeling or renovating can take their old items and donate them so they can be sold for profit. We left with a ton of ideas and items for under $12. Definitely search on-line to if your city has one...they're all over.
Anyways, this is just the cupboard door with a few coats of black spray paint. Then I just measured and drilled the holes in the middle. It would have been done A LOT sooner but the screws that came with the knobs were too long for the thickness of the board. I had to go to the hardware store on two different occasions to get the right fit (not all the knobs had the same thread) and for some reason it took almost 6 months for those two trips to get done. Last, I just screwed in some hardware on the back so it would hang on the wall. Easy peasy. I have everything I need to make one more for myself one day...or in a year.

super cute!! I wish I could get ideas periodically. What does that feel like?
ReplyDeletei LOVE it! what a fun idea. the knob 3rd from the right is the hardware we have in our kitchen!
ReplyDeleteThat looks awesome!!! :) Love it looove it! :)
ReplyDeletegreat project, looks very cool. If I were to make one with a cupboard door that wide I would place the knobs at varied heights to add interest. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled to make my own!
